Simple Robbery - Minnesota Statute 609.24

Simple robbery occurs when property is taken:

​

• from a person

• or in the presence of another

• by means of force  

• or the threat of force

• and the property is carried away.

 

Simple robbery is a felony and punishable by up to 10 years in prison and/or a $20,000 fine.

 

​First Degree Aggravated Robbery

Whoever commits a robbery armed with a dangerous weapon, or something used or fashioned in a manner to lead the victim to reasonably believe it to be a dangerous weapon, or inflicts bodily harm upon another, is guilty of aggravated robbery in the first degree.

 

First degree robbery is a felony and punishable by up to 20 years in prison and/or a fine of $35,000. First degree aggravated robbery is a severity level eight offense, and the law presumes, even without any previous criminal record, that if convicted a sentence of 48 months in prison is ordered.
